Our cycling adventures in Dorset & The New Forest are the best way to enjoy everything this unspoilt area has to offer. Many of our bike routes pass along disused railway lines and in The New Forest there are a large network of woodland trails - both of which provide great traffic-free cycling. Coupled with the fact that the land is relatively flat, the area is an ideal destination for families. The area boasts an astonishing variety in terms of landscape: there are forests and woodlands, breathtaking beaches with charming brightly-coloured huts, nature reserves, coastal towns (where you can ride along the cliff tops), and mile upon mile of protected Dorset countryside. The region is rich with maritime history and there is lots of opportunity to do some ferry hopping between the mainland and islands. Many of our tours include a ferry ride or two.
We offer a range of gentle (on average around 20 miles/day) holidays by bike in Dorset & the New Forest, from short breaks to longer trips lasting 8 days or more. The holidays are self-guided but we can provide a guide on request. We carefully select our accommodation so you can expect excellent service, the best locations and authentic English character wherever you stay; most tours have a choice of either luxury hotels or classic quality inns. For a real spot of indulgence, our Isles, Coast and The New Forest tour includes overnight stays in the very best hotels in the area.
Most itineraries start in Burley or Wareham and head north towards Salisbury and Stonehenge, east to Beaulieu, south to the Isle of Wight, and west as far as Dorchester. Please visit The Carter Company website for more information
